The Heartbreaking Past
Seven years ago, Chong Qing Yao was the “fat girl” at Song University—170 lbs of insecurity and hidden love for the untouchable campus heartthrob, Pei Huayou. Their secret romance ended in tragedy and misunderstanding. Pei’s wealthy family and cruel friends mocked her, calling her a “fat pig” who wasn’t worthy of him. Believing he was ashamed of her, and facing a life-threatening pregnancy complication, Qing Yao vanished. She faked her death, leaving Pei Huayou with nothing but a broken heart and a cheap pen she returned as a goodbye gift.
The Unexpected Reunion
Now, Qing Yao has returned to the city under a new identity: “An Ni,” a slim, beautiful, but struggling single mother. Her world revolves around her 6-year-old daughter, Suway, who suffers from a congenital heart defect and desperately needs surgery.
Fate plays a cruel trick when Suway gets into a minor accident involving a dog named Potato. The man who steps out of the car to help them is none other than Dr. Pei Huayou—now a successful, cold, and wealthy surgeon.
“Is that Dr. Uncle Daddy?” Suway asks innocently, noting the resemblance.
“No, Suway. Daddy went to a faraway place on a mission,” Qing Yao lies, her heart pounding.
The Jealous Doctor
Dr. Pei is drawn to “An Ni” immediately. She feels familiar—her scent, her stubbornness, her habit of clutching her clothes when nervous. But she claims to be married to a man named “Chen Shian” who is always “abroad.”
Pei becomes obsessed. He uses every excuse to see her: treating her daughter, helping her sick mother-in-law (who is actually just her landlord), and even saving her from a creepy taxi driver. He hates himself for falling for a “married” woman, yet he can’t stay away.
“Is your husband really so busy that he can’t even come back when his daughter is dying?” Pei demands angrily one rainy night after finding them stranded. “Are you his wife or just his free nanny?”
The tension builds as Pei notices details that don’t add up. Suway is allergic to peanut butter—just like him. An Ni’s birthday is April 15th—just like Qing Yao’s. And when he investigates her “husband,” he finds no trace of the man.

The Secret Revealed
The breaking point comes when Suway is injured in a school accident. Pei rushes to the hospital, terrified. He holds the little girl’s hand, promising to protect her. He secretly orders a paternity test, unable to ignore the resemblance any longer.
When the results come back, his world shatters and rebuilds in an instant. Match. Suway is his daughter.
He confronts Qing Yao in her small apartment. “You’ve been lying to me for so long. Is it fun? You watch me wag my tail like a dog, begging for your pity. Do you think it’s amusing?”
Qing Yao tries to push him away again. “Let’s just pretend we never met. No one needs to know about your less-than-glorious romantic history with a fat girl.”
But Pei Huayou isn’t the same boy he was seven years ago. He grabs her ID card, refusing to let her run. “Suway is a child of the Pei family. She cannot be left out in the cold. And you… you are coming with me.”
A Family Reunited
The barriers fall. Pei learns that Qing Yao never stopped loving him; she only left because she thought she was a burden. He realizes his “hatred” was just masked grief.
In a touching scene at the hospital, Pei gets down on one knee in front of Qing Yao and Suway.
“Chong Qing Yao, thank you for barging into my life and teaching me how to love. Will you marry me? Let me spend the rest of my life making up for the hurt I caused you.”
Suway cheers, “Mom, just agree! Then I’ll have a dad, an aunt, and a grandma!”
Qing Yao finally nods, tears streaming down her face. The “fat girl” who thought she was unlovable is now the cherished wife of the man she always loved. And Pei Huayou, the cold doctor, finally has the family he didn’t know he needed.
